I am a retired bioinformatician with a strong interest in epistemology, in particular in systems biology. In my academic career, I was involved in a large spectrum of research projects from protein sequence data analysis, to genomics, and clinical applications to interpret molecular data.
My research group was founded in 1988 at the Max-Planck Inst. f. Biochemistry in Martinsried. From 2001 to 2017 I have been professor at the Technical University of Munich and head of the Inst. f. Bioinformatics and Systems Biology at the Helmholtz Center Munich. After my retirement, I work for Biomax Informatics AG, founded in 1997.
