My research focuses on reasoning with and about causal models in biology. Biologists explicitly or implicitly attempt to describe what would happen to a system given an intervention on it. I try to use formal tools to answer both particular questions (e.g., what are adaptations and which tools are practically necessary to empirically investigate them?) as well as general questions (e.g., what is presupposed in the practice of causally modeling biological populations and individuals?).
