Will Fraker

I have broad interests in the philosophy of science, though the questions I pursue frequently fall at the intersection of mind and language. At the center of my research is the topic of representation: how representations function as components of cognitive and social structures, as well as the role of representation as an explanatory tool in philosophy and the cognitive sciences. I’m especially interested in investigating these topics as they relate to embodiment and social practices. As such, I’m primarily concerned with how representations are used by people – as words, images, gestures, concepts, beliefs – and how these uses are implemented by brains and computers.
