Cyber-Personality and Liking Expression: A Study From WeChat Users in China
    with Haojian Li
    Frontiers in Psychology 12. 2021.
Clicking the like button following a post on social media has become a common means of expressing and gathering social support online. Little is known about how liking expression is linked and regulated by personality traits and communication motives. Following a preliminary survey about the usage of the like function on WeChat, a Chinese social media platform, we conducted an online study to map the Big-Five personality traits and five communication motives to the frequency of liking expression…Read more

Conservation combats exploitation: Choices within an evolutionary framework
with Shu Li and Li-Lin Rao
    Behavioral and Brain Sciences 37 (4): 437-438. 2014.
Intentional change when viewed as making a risky or intertemporal choice with evolutionary relevance helps us understand its successes and its failures. To promote future-oriented ecological rationality requires establishing a linkage between nongenetic, cultural, and symbolic selections and genetic adaptations. Coupled with biophilic instinct, intentional conservation is more likely to prevail against evolved desires of environmental exploitation.

Chaotic Signal Denoising Based on Adaptive Smoothing Multiscale Morphological Filtering
with Guiji Tang and Xiaoli Yan
    Complexity 2020 1-14. 2020.
Nonlinear time series denoising is the prerequisite for extracting effective information from observation sequence. An effective chaotic signal denoising method not only has a good signal-to-noise ratio enhancement performance, but also can remain as a good unpredictable denoised signal. However, the inherent characteristics of chaos, such as extreme sensitivity to initial values and broadband spectrum, pose challenges for noise reduction of polluted chaotic signals. To address these issues, an …Read more

A series of derivatives of the known thromboxane A2 prostanoid receptor antagonists, 3-sulfonamido)-5,6,7,8-tetrahydronaphthalen-1-yl)propanoic acid and 3-sulfonamido)ethyl)phenyl) propanoic acid, were synthesized in which the carboxylic acid functional group was replaced with substituted cyclopentane-1,3-dione bioisosteres. Characterization of these molecules led to the discovery of remarkably potent new analogues, some of which were considerably more active than the corresponding parent carbox…Read more
  • Tunable Bragg filters with a phase transition material defect layer
    with Z. Gong, K. Dong, Lou S., J. Slack, A. Anders, and J. Yao
© 2016 Optical Society of America. We propose an all-solid-state tunable Bragg filter with a phase transition material as the defect layer. Bragg filters based on a vanadium dioxide defect layer sandwiched between silicon dioxide/titanium dioxide Bragg gratings are experimentally demonstrated. Temperature dependent reflection spectroscopy shows the dynamic tunability and hysteresis properties of the Bragg filter. Temperature dependent Raman spectroscopy reveals the connection between the tunabili…Read more

© 2015 American Association for Cancer Research.Purpose: Myxopapillary ependymoma is a distinct histologic variant of ependymoma arising commonly in the spinal cord. Despite an overall favorable prognosis, distant metastases, subarachnoid dissemination, and late recurrences have been reported. Currently, the only effective treatment for MPE is gross-total resection. We characterized the genomic and transcriptional landscape of spinal ependymomas in an effort to delineate the genetic basis of thi…Read more
