What Is Metaphysics? Heidegger’s Evolving Account of Metaphysics
Symposion: Theoretical and Applied Inquiries in Philosophy and Social Sciences 10 (2): 275-296. 2023.
In this paper, I deal with Heidegger’s evolving account of metaphysics, since Heidegger’s persistent concern, the question of being, is a basic metaphysical question. To date, most Heidegger scholars have focused only on a particular stage of Heidegger’s philosophy: either his early attempt to deconstruct metaphysics, or his efforts to overcome metaphysics in the 1930s, or his late embrace of ‘releasement’ from metaphysics. However, these limited approaches fail to address Heidegger’s different …Read more

The affinity between artistic creation in Heidegger and divine creation in Schelling
International Journal of Philosophy and Theology 83 (1): 100-116. 2022.
The majority of the contemporary literature on Schelling and Heidegger focuses on the direct connection between the two philosophers – Heidegger’s engagement with Schelling’s Freedom essay. This paper, however, explores an implicit link between them on the topic of creation by reading Schelling’s Ages of the World alongside Heidegger’s ‘The Origin of the Work of Art’. It brings God’s creation in Schelling together with artistic creation in Heidegger and argues that the two have similarities in t…Read more

The Influence of Disciplinary Origins on Peer Review Normativities in a New Discipline
with Kacey Beddoes and Stephanie Cutler
    Social Epistemology 37 (3): 390-404. 2023.
STS scholarship has produced important insights about relationships between the roles of peer review and the social construction of knowledge. Yet, barriers related to access have been a continual challenge for such work. This article overcomes some past access challenges and explores peer review normativities operating in the new discipline of Engineering Education. In doing so, it contributes new insights about disciplinary development, interdisciplinarity, and peer review as a site of knowled…Read more

The skillful living in the Zhuangzi, Buddhism, and Stoicism
    Asian Philosophy 32 (3): 251-269. 2022.
The significant role of skill in Zhuangzi’s good life has been argued by most Zhuangzi scholars. However, there is ongoing debate concerning the psychological and behavioral mechanisms that underwr...

Electron behavior in topological insulator based P-N overlayer interfaces
    with M. la WrayNeupane, S. -Y. Xu, A. V. Fedorov, H. Lin, S. Basak, A. Bansil, Y. S. Hor, R. J. Cava, and M. Z. Hasan
Topological insulators are novel materials that manifest spin-polarized Dirac states on their surfaces or at interfaces made with conventional matter. We have measured the electron kinetics of bulk doped TI Bi$_2$Se$_3$ with angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy while depositing cathodic and anodic adatoms on the TI surfaces to add charge carriers of the opposite sign from bulk dopants. These P-N overlayer interfaces create Dirac point transport regimes and larger interface potentials than p…Read more
