Alicja Pietras is an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Philosophy, at the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland. She is a graduate in philosophy and sociology. Her research has been on the history of German transcendental philosophy (especially Kant, Hegel, neo-Kantianism, Nicolai Hartmann, Martin Heidegger, Karl Jaspers, Hannah Arendt, Hans Wagner), the ontology of spiritual being and the philosophical foundations of the social and cognitive sciences (sociology, cognitive and developmental psychology).
