I am a Senior Lecturer in Social and Political Thought at The Open University and a BBC/AHRC New Generation Thinker (2023). My research explores freedom, power and interdependence, drawing on Spinoza, Marx, 'continental' philosophy and English socialist traditions. I have published widely on the reception and contemporary significance of Spinoza, including recent journal articles on Spinoza and Malcolm X, and Spinoza and George Eliot. My recent work has pivoted towards embedded community research and social policy.
