He is also the founder of Surmado, Inc., where he builds AI systems for small businesses. That practical work informs his philosophical interest in how real systems distribute judgment, memory, authority, and responsibility, and in what kinds of design norms preserve meaningful human authorship rather than merely keeping a human “in the loop.”
