R. Austin Kippes

I am a social and political philosopher whose work is motivated by the question of the relationship between theory and practice in social and political philosophy. By focusing on this relationship, my work aims to shift the perspective by which philosophers theorize first-order values by more critically analyzing the fundamental conditions that shape the values and ideals of philosophers and social activists. I am especially interested in the nature of political philosophy, political methodology, the role of the philosopher in social and political change, and the possibility of emancipation from social, political, and economic forms of domination.
