I am a devoted cyclist, a conqueror of majestic peaks like Jebel Hafeet, the Emirate's lofty pinnacle. A wanderer of the countryside, I find solace in the embrace of lakes and the vast expanse of the ocean. Music is deeply important to me: classical, jazz, rock, and blues suiting different moods and aspects of my life.

I obtained my first degree in Psychology from The University of Bolton, England. I then took a Masters in Philosophy at The University of Warwick, followed by a Ph.D in Philosophy at The London School of Economics. Professor Barry McMullin (DCU) and I founded and edited The Karl Popper Web (1995 - present.), one of the first academic websites, and I am the organiser of the Annual Conference on the Philosophy of Sir Karl Popper, both sponsored by the London School of Economics, Dublin City University and The Open Society Institute. Not being an organisation but an individual, the seed funding grant was made to 'a uniquely gifted individual'. In 1995 I founded, as part of Karl Popper Forums, an online peer-reviewed journal Critical Rationalist and an email discussion forum Critical Cafe. In 2000 I was listed by Barron's Who's Who as one of five hundred 'world leaders for the new century.' I have a keen interest in science and technology, publishing many articles and reviews for Nature, The New Scientist, Science Spectra and The Times Higher Educational Supplement. My YouTube channel is the NaiveRealist, with over 38,000 views. I am an alumnus of The Institute for Humane Studies, George Mason University. I have taught Philosophy at the University of Lancaster, UK, and at the U.A.E. University. My specializations are the philosophy of science and the philosophy of mind.
I am just as beguiled by Beethoven's piano sonatas and the poetry of blossoming flowers and exploding sunsets as I am by the logical structure of the world; they are equally real aspects of the cosmos. While swimming in the turquoise Caribbean sea, feeling the waters flow around my body, I’m also swimming through an ocean of enigmas and paradoxes of philosophy. I love both people and ideas, and there is no pleasure more sublime than discussing ideas with people driven by curiosity and wonder in the world and the courage to ruthlessly pursue the argument by strict logic and imagination - and a few jokes on the way.
I also treasure my music composition as an adventure in a wholesome life: https://open.spotify.com/artist/3B1Bh10uUljUX9iNmPOYZo?si=a2l6Z8XtTj-mcSs2dvMa8Q
