Migration and diversity are important factors in education of teachers around the globe. From an intercultural perspective, we shall analyse how metaphysical and religious assumptions overlap and enable teachers to motivate pupils from different religious-cultural backgrounds to understand in greater detail the facets of (minimal) universalism, relativism and other concepts that obtain in more or less open societies. We argue for a concept of Intercultural Human Rights Education that uses different texts in philosophy classes, includes controversial positions from different cultures, and is methodologically versatile. According to this concept, we think that a) human dignity (as a typically Western concept) and human rights and b) one tradition of interpreting the Qur’an (renunciation of force and the Indian concept of ahimsā (nonviolence)), can motivate teachers to discuss the efforts and also the limits of an overlapping consensus about the intercultural perspective. Finally, we provide the outlines of a teaching unit plan in accordance with our theoretical insights.

Der Beitrag untersucht zwei eng miteinander verzahnte Thesen. These 1: Die Frage, ob eine Theorie der Inklusiven Philosophiedidaktik (TIPD) additiv zu einem bestehenden Ansatz innerhalb der Philosophiedidaktik hinzugefügt oder auf ihr aufgesattelt werden kann, kann nicht eindeutig in die eine oder andere Richtung beantwortet werden und ist von daher als ergebnisoffen zu betrachten. Diese These wird ausdifferenziert. These 2: Wenn Inklusion ein Menschenrecht ist und wenn dieses Menschenrecht untrennbar mit Bildung verknüpft ist, dann sollte eine TIPD auf einen an Inklusion theoretisch und praktisch anschlussfähigen Bildungsbegriff rekurrieren. Es werden Argumente für und wider die beiden Thesen untersucht und beispielhaft in drei Dimensionen Implikationen für einen Inklusiven Philosophieunterricht dargestellt: Erstens mit Blick auf die Unterrichtspraxis, zweitens hinsichtlich der Lehrer*innenausbildung und schließlich in Bezug auf bildungspolitische Aufgaben, die sich aus den Thesen ergeben.

The publication presents research results on a multitude of knowledge exchange processes in post-enlightenment Europe. These focus on the question in how far deeply rooted processes of knowledge exchange by transnational intellectual discourses and international expert communities have contributed to a variety of networks of European intellectual identities and research practices. These practices again constitute a fertile framework for de-territorialised and de-nationalised exchange of knowledge that might contribute to contagious processes of emancipation, cooperation as well as problem solving.

English summary: The debate on naturalism marks a watershed in analytically oriented epistemology and the philosophy of science. In this work, the authors deal with some of the main topics of contemporary theoretical philosophy. How closely are epistemological methods related to scientific methods? Is knowledge a natural phenomenon as Kornblith suggests? Does naturalism solve ontological problems as it claims to do? Are the more ambitious versions of naturalism incompatible? In this transatlantic cooperation, each article is commented on by other philosophers and then defended by the author. This concept makes it possible to detect controversies, since both naturalistic philosophers and their opponents have their say. This book will be challenging and rewarding reading for scholars as well as for interested laymen. German description: Naturalismus innerhalb der Erkenntnistheorie ist heftig umstritten. In diesem transatlantischen Projekt haben Befurworter und Kritiker Gelegenheit zur argumentativen Auseinandersetzung. Jeder Aufsatz wird kommentiert; anschliessend hat der Erstautor Gelegenheit zu einer Erwiderung. Diese Grundidee wird selten umgesetzt, erweist sich aber als gewinnbringend, da der Leser so doch erfahrt, was ein Autor wirklich gemeint hat. Im Einzelnen geht es darum, was Naturalismus in der Erkenntnistheorie im Allgemeinen und Biologischer Naturalismus im Besonderen ist und worin Gehalt und Attraktivitat des, Naturalismus' bestehen. Dirk Koppelberg argumentiert dafur, dass eine naturalistische Erkenntnistheorie zugleich normativen Herausforderungen gerecht werden kann. Hilary Kornblith verteidigt die Sicht, Wissen sei ein naturliches Phanomen, und Martin Mahner bestreitet aus naturalistischer Perspektive, dass man gleichzeitig ontologischer, methodologischer und erkenntnistheoretischer Naturalist sein konne. Olaf L. Muller provoziert durch die metaphysische These, Fragen nach einem Jenseits seien auch aus naturalistischer Sicht nicht uberflussig. Carsten Kollmann argumentiert, durch Naturalisierung liesse sich die Okonomisierung der Wissenschaftstheorie voranbringen.
