I am Professor in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science and a faculty member of the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition, University of Pittsburgh. I was formerly associate director of the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition when I was faculty at CMU as Professor in Philosophy and the Neuroscience Institute.

I have published two books, Movements of the Mind (OUP, 2023) on agency, attention and intention, and Attention (Routledge, 2014 1st ed; 2nd ed 2025). I am currently writing a book, Stay Attuned, on the ethics and origins of attention.
